A Grant That Will Keep On Giving

This is an excerpt from an email from CIS Executive Director, Kevin Dahill-Fuchel, discussing the ongoing impact of our recent grant:

"Last year, the Meringoff Family Foundation granted Counseling In Schools $20,000 to establish the CIS Bridge Fund.  This fund was used to support the initiation of services on government contracted programs by “bridging the gap” between a program’s start date and its contract activation date.  Six (6) school programs, each supporting the placements of mental health interns, drew down all $20,000 from the fund in September 2015 so that they could all start on the very first day of school, avoiding what turned out to be an average contract initiation delay of 80 days.  The ‘bridge’ created by this fund allowed 16 interns to start their placements on time and provided a total of 243 students with 421 counseling sessions, that would otherwise not have taken place for an average of 80 days. As each contract was activated, Bridge Fund dollars were reimbursed, which again leaves us with the full $20,000 from which to draw when similar circumstances present themselves."
