Tech Kids Unlimited Press Release

TKU and the Doug Flutie Foundation Lauch ShopTheSpectrum.com

To close out Autism Awareness Month, Flutie Spectrum Enterprises and The T3 Digital Agency are proud to launch ShoptheSpectrum.com, a website designed to highlight businesses that employ adults on the autism spectrum around the idea of autism entrepreneurship. Flutie Spectrum Enterprises is part of the leading autism organization the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism and The T3 Digital Agency is part of the NYCbased not-for-profit Tech Kids Unlimited. Shop the Spectrum was born from a nexus between the staggering numbers of adults with ASD who are unemployed or underemployed and the trend that shoppers are increasingly supporting small businesses with a social mission, known as social enterprises. The site is a website directory and features all types of businesses nationwide, from home and living companies to food and beverage products to digital services. The website includes over a dozen businesses nationwide and additional businesses will be continuously added. Autism entrepreneurs with an online shop can add their business via a Vendor Form on the site. The site was created by The T3 Digital Agency (of Tech Kids Unlimited) during a February 2017 weeklong workshop. Tech Kids Unlimited teaches students with ASD the cutting edge computer science principles and tech skills of tomorrow, and T3 puts the teens and their skills to work for real clients. The teens worked directly with client Brittany Collins of Flutie Spectrum Enterprises, whose first micro-business FSE Office Solutions employs 6 adults with autism to offer mailing, shredding, and assembly services to small- and medium-sized businesses in Massachusetts.
