The NYPD is launching a new department-wide initiative that aims to prevent youth crime across the Big Apple, top cop Dermot Shea announced Wednesday.

Shea, speaking at the New York City Police Foundation’s State of NYPD annual breakfast at an Upper East Side hotel, outlined the new strategy that he says takes neighborhood policing “to the next level.”

“We can do far better, both within the NYPD and in coordination with a range of city agencies and community-based organizations,” the police commissioner said.
