Ahead of its annual Spring gala, the legendary dance company announced it has “gratefully acknowledged” a $20 million gift from the wealthy philanthropist and ex-wife of Amazon chief Jeff Bezos.

In accepting one of Scott’s 286 donations made to nonprofit organizations across the United States last week, the Ailey organization has earmarked the funds to support its “Dancing Forward” initiatives, which will include programs to expand the repertory, bring its founder’s dances to current and future audiences, provide training for Ailey Arts in Education teaching artists, and offer scholarships to The Ailey School.
