NYPD Crime Stoppers

A new, souped-up CrimeStoppers van will go from crime scene to crime scene, airing videos of unsolved murders, shootings and other felonies and asking residents for help.

“Your City,” the slogan on the black van reads. “Your call.”

CrimeStoppers is nothing new. The cash for information program — $2,500 for a tip leading to a conviction — regularly pops up in neigborhoods scarred by violence, with information about the latest crime blared over a loudspeaker.

But the new van — which cost $90,000 and was paid for by the Police Foundation — can air videos and wanted posters on screens on the van’s side panel.
