State of Our Schools: Eagle Academy For Young Men
A school in Ocean Hill is bringing students different perspectives on current events happening nationally and globally before school starts every day.
"It's about you taking the information and making connections to yourself,” says Rashad Meade, principal at Eagle Academy For Young Men.
Meade briefs students every day after they watch multiple news sources on the top stories of the day.
The daily town hall briefings go from the steps in front of Eagle Academy to nearly 600 students on Zoom every day.
It’s a 13-year-old Eagle tradition to brief students on complicated topics and conversations regularly that are impacting their communities.
"So, they can develop the skill to make their own interpretations and judgments and that's going to be everything going forward especially now,” says Meade.
The academy will be joined by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams on Friday for their town hall.
